Iraville Watercolour Art Kit

I really, really like this kit. Tom Haugomat’s style is so stunning and it feels great to be able to replicate it. My friends ooh and ahh when I show them photos of my progress.

These are the challenges I’m running into:

- I find it very difficult mixing paint, and the instructions around this could be improved.
- Along with mixing, it is taking me a while to figure out which colors to mix together to get the colors in the reference photo. Some extra guidance would help here. I am spending more time on the trial-and-error mixing than I want. This also means that I am spending more time with the brush than with the markers, which is not what I wanted / expected out of this kit.
- A very small paintbrush is included for details and mixing, which is definitely needed. But I keep finding myself wanting a shorter-bristled, stiffer brush. I’m getting better with the one provided but man it is hard to learn the physical skill with it.
- This kit could really use a black paint marker. Some reference photos clearly need something darker than provided.
- Like many others have said, some of the images to paint are quite small.

If these were improved, this would be almost perfect, and really worth the price.

I really wanted to love this kit. The workbook is so ding dang small, and the directions to teach you the techniques are very sparse. The illustrations are so small, too. I loved the supplies and really wish we had more technique exercises and instruction. I spent all this money so that I could learn to do this technique so I'm pretty disappointed for the heft price of the kit itself. Real bummer.

Bought it for my fiancee and she loved it! Art tutorial was very informative and easy to follow

Loved this kit - have started drawing almost daily thanks to the guide. Love Chapman's art as well, the stickers are especially superb. One thing, the pens all came in different sizes (nibs) and some would have been better in the wider nib. Other than that - love it!

I love the artist's style, and look forward to completing more of the practice pieces with the booklet guide. As people say, its more color theory than actually teaching how to paint (which I actually like).

I wish the painting pages were larger! There's so much detail shrunken down. Maybe they could have used both sides of a page?

I do have a few issues with the supplies, however. I did not get the Poscas along with my order since I already own some. This paper is not meant for acrylic markers. It pills and breaks apart really easily, along with not absorbing the colors well. I intended to use gouache for the paintings too, as the gouache kits use the same paper, but this paper does not hold water well either.

Love the idea, love the artist's art and learning about colors, don't love the paper included for the price.
